Porsche Macan: Big Features in Smaller Packages

Porsche's newest addition to the family, the Macan, is a much smaller version of the older Porsche models. The Macan, because of its size, was met with criticism and a little industry doubt about the company's commitment to their sportscar traditions. The Macan holds true to Porsche's traditional clean lines and sleek curves. This petite-sized beauty holds her own in terms of speed and functionality. The seating capability is slightly similar to Porsche's Cayenne models, boasting the ability to comfortably seat five. Check out these great pictures of the Macan...
Porsche is much focused on making every vehicle in its stable look, feel and perform like a sportscar. That was the reason why naysayers became converts after driving the Cayenne and that is the story that Porsche wants to communicate with the new Macan too. The sleek, aerodynamic, very Porsche exterior of the Macan already speaks to you. Stepping into the cabin and soaking in the plush interior of the Macan just adds to that connect with the car. The most likeable aspects of the Macan’s interior layout is the clutter free dashboard, though the Porsche signature array of control buttons on either side of the gearshift stick on the centre console is a bit intimidating at first.

Meet the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe

Meet the Jaguar F-Type R coupe. The sleek curves of the new model is the fastest of Jaguar's offerings. The F-Type R coupe trails a long list of features including the ability to shift from regular to dynamic mode, active suspension and electronic slip-differential. This Jag will literally take your breath away.
Host Alex Goy put the new hardtop Jaguar F-Type R coupe through its paces in the latest edition of XCar. Goy says the loud, red Jag was the first car he has been pulled over in during a shoot -- which must mean he’s either more restrained than we’d have guessed or just supremely lucky. The F-Type R is now the fastest Jaguar you can buy, with 543 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque on tap. It’s also stiffer than the convertible version, which was already good on the racetrack.

Take a Ride in the Hongqi L5

Check out this $800,000.00 car crafted by "Hongqi". This luxe ride comes fully loaded with a price tag of 5-million yuan. Hongqi has mastered the art of luxury over the last 50 years and the L5 is the pinnacle of that journey. The Hongqi was debuted recently at the Beijing Auto Show and the first model was purchased directly off of the showroom floor. Get a close-up of the Hongqi L5...
China's oldest car company rolled out its first vehicle on Aug. 1, 1958; it was a chrome-lined black sedan designed -- like the pastiche of 1950s cars it resembled, including the Packard-esque Chaika -- to strike equal amounts of fear and inspiration into the revolutionaries. In Chinese, "Hongqi" means "red flag," the most potent symbol of the Chinese Communist Party, making it a fitting name for a company that supplied the apparatchik. A symbol of power, a sphere of influence, a four-wheeled Great Leap Forward! Curiously enough, it took Nixon's 1972 visit for Mao Zedong (who finally swore off the Soviets and their ZIS-110s) to get into a Hongqi.

A Mustang Worth One Million Dollars?

The Mustang is nothing short of an American staple. It's arrival to the Ford assembly line quickly challenged the automotive industry and limitations of American car design. The explosive sales over the first two years were record breaking, surpassing the million unit mark. This condensed documentary walks us through the history of the "Million Dollar Mustang".
The Million Dollar Mustang” is not about how much these great cars go for at auctions in today's heady times, but about what made them worth so much in the first place. Nearly five years in the making, the documentary starts out talking about the Ford Mustang in general, how they sold 22,000 of them on the first sales day and then sold a million of them in the first two years and things like that -- the notion that the Mustang was a revolution in American car design and in the American consciousness. Then it starts to narrow its focus more and pretty soon the bulk of the piece is all about the Shelby GT350 R. This is a good place for it to go because that car, made by Carroll Shelby and his team of motorsports greats, took the Falcon-based economy car and made it corner and brake just as well as it accelerated, for the most part. Once it gets set on that particular Shelby, the film really goes to town.

New Audi Spy Shots

We can think of a million reasons to love Audis just as they are but this recent spy shot of the 2016 roll out just gave us a million more. From the exterior love to the interior overhaul the new Audi S6 promises to blow you away. Again.
Audi’s latest A6 midsizer first hit the scene as a 2012 model, so the car is just about due for its mid-cycle update. Right on cue, a prototype for just such a car has been spotted. This one is for the sporty S6 model, but most of the changes should feature across the updated A6 range. As the spy shots reveal, the aesthetic changes to the updated S6 will be minimal. We can see that it will be receiving new bumpers and revised headlights. Although the shape of the lights isn’t changing, it appears there are some new LED elements similar to what we saw on the updated 2015 A8. Overseas models will also feature Audi's Matrix LED tech. We know this prototype is for the S6 because of the aggressive front bumper, performance wheels and brakes, lowered suspension, and quad-exhaust tips. The engine in the S6 is Audi’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8. As we saw with the 2015 A8, the engine’s output in this updated S6 will likely be bumped up to 435 horsepower from the current 420-horsepower setting.

Meet the Top Luxury Cars with the Best Value

Luxury cars are becoming increasingly popular in today's society. Offerings of plush features and sleek body styles have lured consumers into luxury dealers for decades. Over the years the notion of luxury and value seemed to be slightly separate. This recent Forbes article debunks the myth of luxury versus value and builds a solid case that consumers can have both.
Luxury cars these days have gotten so plush that automakers have really got to push to make their most high-priced wares seem special. It’s not enough to have a dozen cup holders in your ride—now you need motorized cup holders like in the Cadillac CTS CTS +0.1%, or a full-on champagne cooler like in the Bentley Mulsanne. It’s not enough to have LED headlights and high-density fog lights like those available from Audi —now you need curve-sensitive headlights and a starlight headliner, like in the Rolls-Royce Ghost. Even the interior details, like the leather vents in the Porsche Panamera and granite trim options in the sport sedans at Mercedes-Benz , are flush with expensive textures and materials. But there are plenty of models from premium and luxury brands that actually offer a decent value over long-term ownership.

Oliver Jordan's 220 Car Collection

Oliver Jordan's stash of pre-war cars was recently discovered and entrusted to the hands of VanDerBrink Auctions. This massive collection of cars has been hidden in Enid, Oklahoma for over sixty-one years. Jordan, the car collector, was known around town as "the man with all the cars". VanDerBrink has promised to publish an online list of items for sale prior to the actual auction.
It's been six months since some 500 cars from the gigantic Lambrecht Chevrolet stash found new homes, and many of them are well into their restorations. In fact, all a few needed was a new battery, some fluids, and a few hours of work to be brought back to life. Others will surely be preserved as-is, not even with their dust wiped away. And as historic as that sale was, we always suspected that there could be a few more car stashes in that part of the country that were ripe for picking. It turns out, it didn't take long for another large collection to come to light, this time in Oklahoma. Some 220 cars, most of them pre-war, are set to go to the highest bidder this summer in what promises to be another grand spectacle. And the same auction company that oversaw the sale of the cars from Lambrecht Chevrolet will be auctioning them off one by one on June 7. So just what is this collection? Yvette VanDerBrink of VanDerBrink Auctions clued us in.

Aston Martin DB9 Carbon at New York Auto Show

Aston Martin plans to showcase the DB9 Carbon Edition and the Vantage GT at the upcoming New York Auto Show. Both cars boast exciting new features and price tags ranging between $99,000-$199,000. While the models are being featured at select auto shows across the country BMW plans to deliver the first run of both models by the third quarter of this year.
Aston Martin has announced that it will debut new versions of its Vantage and DB9 sports cars at the New York auto show. At $99,900, the Vantage GT becomes the lowest-price option in the Aston Martin lineup. With a 430-hp V8, a 190-mph top speed and some seriously attractive bodywork, the budget model could prove tempting to Porsche 911 buyers. It will be available as a coupe or roadster with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic. Runs to 60 from a stop should take 4.6 seconds -- not blistering by modern standards but not slow either. The Vantage GT will feature a number of cosmetic touches to differentiate it from other Aston models, and a complement of motorsports-inspired paint and graphic options are available for buyers who feel the need to ensure they'll be able to spot their car in a crowded parking lot.

2014 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante First Drive Video

Experience the first drive of the 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante. High speed, sleek body and maxed out interiors... we're loving it. Check out more in this first drive video.
The Aston Martin Vanquish Volante is probably the sexiest car in the planet--the Internet says it is so--but what good is it in winter? If you're in the third of the country currently buried under a soul-crushing blanket of ice and snow, the only transportation you really want right now is a tauntaun with a DNR and a death wish. Of that practicality, the Volante's sunnily ignorant. What it innately understands: elevating your spirit, sharpening your senses, rocketing around the radiant canyons south of Palm Springs, deflating Corvette egos and stirring hives of Beemers with a brazen flash of carbon-fiber curves and a hormonal exhaust rasp on speed dial.

Up Close with the 2016 Porsche Carrera

Get up close and personal with the 2016 Porsche Carrera 911. This prototype defies the traditionalism of Porsche as we know it and pushes the edge of design and performance. Boasting a power packed engine with 400 horsepower.

Porsche is working on a mid-cycle facelift for its 911, and we have a number of prototypes for the Carrera and Carrera S models caught on video. The prototypes reveal that a number of minor styling changes will be introduced with this facelift, but our intel suggests there may be some powertrain updates too. Looking at previous spy shots, at the rear of the prototypes we can see some new intakes; one at either side of the rear bumper. The existing Carrera and Carrera S don’t feature these, suggesting there may be some serious updates under the hood. The current Carrera has a 3.4-liter flat-six engine with 350 horsepower on tap. The Carrera S, meanwhile, gets a 3.8-liter flat-six engine with 400 horsepower.

2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA Class Review

It's not often that the term affordability and Mercedes-Benz are forged together in one concept. Until the petite CLA class joined the family, making the infamous Mercedes-Benz brand both luxurious and affordable. While some aspects of this model are still being perfected, the overall experience of the car holds true to the highly acclaimed reputation of Mercedes-Benz. This review details the CLA 250 in its entirety.
Mercedes-Benz has a reputation for luxury and comfort, but rarely does one think of a Mercedes as being affordable. The brand hopes to change that--somewhat--with the new CLA Class. The brand's smallest car in America, the CLA Class is a four-door coupe that puts style at the forefront. Priced to start around $30,000, the CLA also offers a strong value proposition. Style plus value? It's an intriguing mix. Fortunately, the CLA also promises decent performance, with the base CLA 250 rated at 208 horsepower and 6.7 seconds to 60 mph thanks to a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine driving the front wheels (or optionally, all four wheels). Gas mileage isn't officially rated yet, but it should be good--we expect at least 30 mpg on the highway.

Take a Sneak Peek at Land Rover's Next Concept Vision

Enjoy this behind the scenes peek at Land Rover's new concept vision and direction for design in the Discovery collection. This video shows the sleek modern interior as a tip off to suggest the exterior design will reflect similar inspirations. What do you think about Land Rover's big new idea? Do you prefer their traditional shape or do you anticipate their new direction in design?

The Land Rover range has recently been freshened extensively, with the addition of the Range Rover Evoque in 2011, and the complete redesign of the Range Rover in 2012. Soon, the Defender will return, but, in the meantime, we'll be treated to the all-new Discovery. Known in America in recent years as the LR4, the Discovery once roamed our shores under its native name. It may soon again, but whatever it's called, this is a preview of what it--and a family of Discovery vehicles--will look like. It's an important model for Land Rover, and the new concept reflects that, says Gerry McGovern, design director and chief creative officer for Land Rover. "Discovery has been pivotal in helping to build the foundations of the Land Rover brand. It is admired all over the world and loved by its strong customer base," said McGovern. "We have created the Vision Concept to share the essence of Land Rover’s new age of Discovery and to debut a new, compelling, relevant design direction that connects on an emotional level with customers of today and tomorrow." Under the hood of the concept, which Land Rover describes as a "design and technology vision for a future new family of Discovery vehicles," some form of high-tech drivetrain from Jaguar Land Rover's Advanced Research program will be revealed.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage Unveiling

Recently at the Geneva Motor Show, Aston Martin unveiled the highly anticipated V8 Vantage N430 and DB9 Carbon editions. The V8 hails as the smallest compact car in the Aston Martin collections. The newly revealed DB9 Carbon edition features a 6.0-liter V12 engine laced with 517 horsepower. The bodywork of the cars are elevated with contrasting and complimenting carbon-fiber and black trim. Get all the details on the newest additions to the Aston Martin family in this article highlighting luxury lifestyle automobiles.

Driving an Aston Martin, let alone owning one, is a rare privilege. The British grand touring machines manage to straddle the divide between high-performance sports cars and luxury coupes like few others can, but their prices and limited production mean that they're not exactly a common sight in most locales. But even in such rarified company, some Astons are more special than others. In addition to its core range consisting of the Vantage, DB9, Vanquish and Rapide, the hundred-year-old automaker occasionally produces a handful of special editions. And that's just what it unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this year.
